Apologies if I was not specific im my original post. We have a host server running hyperv 2012. (Call this Host1) On this host server, we have a VM running 2012. Call this RD1. This VM has Remote Desktop Services installed. It has also got Remote Desktop Licensing Manager, but I do not have CALs for users yet.

Windows Server 2012 can be a little disconcerting due to the new look and layout. Such was the case for a request of a 2012 server with Remote Desktop Services enabled.

I have not heard of this VM per user rule at all and understand that RDS is what I need to have multiple people use a shared resource. Please explain in more detail? Rather than using the webpage to call the mstsc, I am just using mstsc directly. For me, it is only allowing 1 person to be on the Session-Based Desktop Deployment/RDS Services at amy time. Hi, I have a server running Foundation 2012 R2 and i'm setting up Remote Desktop Services. According to the licensing datasheets and various other things i've read it implies that I do not need to install CAL's for the user's and that I can have up to 15.

My Question is, is there something that I do have to install? Is it a case of activating the licensing server and that's it or are there more steps to do to make sure that when the grace period is over I won't lose the ability to use RDS.
