Super Junior-M returns after a year with their third mini-album Swing. The upbeat title song is a groovy blend of R&B and electropop that will get your feet tapping. The song is recorded in both Chinese and Korean.

ChessPower Reviews, Beats and now in Chinese! Super Junior M, a.k.a, the Chinese sub-group of Super Junior, finally back after about year and a half, with their 3rd mini album, Swing. The title song, as the name of the album, is Swing. The album contains 6 songs includes the title, and we will go through all of them Note: Click on the images to open a Youtube link of the song Swing, as said before, is the title of the song, and its genres are dance/pop, dance pop.

But before I will talk about the song, I would like to mention that I was surprised from this comeback. The reason is that there weren’t any rumors or details about an upcoming comeback from them. SM decides to drop the first teaser just like that, at one day. As Super Junior didn’t make comeback for long time, and considered to be one of the biggest male groups in the kpop industry, I expected to see some articles about this comeback before the teaser. In addition to that, Toheart just made their debut and Girls’ Generation made their comeback as well. I didn’t though they will make 3 of their groups go against each other (Although they did it with f(x) and EXO). The time is now, no more waiting Throw away the things that obstruct your dreams, don’t constrain your existence Maria!

Stop daydreaming, time quickly slipping away Back to the song! The song starts with deep drums sound and “modest” beat. For about one minute the song builds slowly, until it reaches the first chorus. BAM, everything changes! The chorus is completely different from what was before, fast deep, different instruments, and different feel to it. After this chorus I expected the song go back to the first melody and mood, but it seems like I was wrong.

The fast beat continues until the end of the song, with electro sounds that follows the main melody. The song keeps progress like this, until the breakdown, which is unsurprisingly, a dubstep breakdown. It looks like SM so addicted to dubstep in those years. From Shinee to Girls’ Generation, f(x) and Super Junior. SM just looooove put dubstep everywhere, like they love pretty faces. Follow the happy rhythms, scream loudly Swing Never Never Give Up!

Now I’m disappointed. Because finally, you give Super Junior – Super Junior M, Henry and (the one that never participate anywhere) Zunmi, a little spotlight So why not put some effort and give them unique concept? Yes, the MV looks cool with all the colors, and maybe some fans will see this song as something unique and special, but actually is something that already seen in SM before. Those style that just repeat here and there in their album releases. Want some ideas?

What about really swing music? Is there any swing songs in kpop? So why not give them some unseen before concept, something that people will remember for a lot of time, and always point at this comeback as a good example for something outstanding. Right, swing maybe won’t be the best genre for SM, but there plenty other concepts that no one used before, and just waiting for some (rich) hands and use them. 3.5/5 Fly high is one of my favorite songs in this album.

I call this song “Anime Hero character theme”. Seems weird right? This song has a really good feeling to it. It has something from the start towards the end, that gives you feel of motivation, something that really fits happy ending scene.

With “simple” instruments, such as electronic/bass guitar and drums, you can easily follow the song and just enjoy it. Wanted to change the world when I was young Grew up only to discover heroes only exist in movies Mama said all dreams will come true (when young) (But) discovered troubles appear again after growing up In addition, the little breakdown in the second minute is really nice. It gives a little “break” from the excitement of the entire song. It’s like a time to gain your energy once more, and back to the main melody of the song right away. Oh, and that high note tho. My Love for You is my least favorite song in this album. The song composed of simple acoustic guitar and nothing more.

It’s really nice-cute song, but in the same hand it isn’t my music style -at all. Because the song genre isn’t something exciting or upbeat, the vocals are suitable to the slow melody. Therefore there weren’t a lot of parts where they could show their true vocal abilities, while keeping the sweet vocal image, which is wrong in my opinion. Although there aren’t many places to put extreme high notes neither too low, there still were some chances to do so.

Yet, they missed the opportunities and left the song without anything with color in it. How I want to fly with you to meteors Capture your beautiful expressions take my hand Baby I know Oh The song, as you may already guessed from the title of the song, talks about love. Although I didn’t like the song itself, the lyrics are really sweet. Some lyrics are cute, while others may be deep and sad.

In general, the song has coffee shop feeling to it, or some drama scene, so maybe it’s where the song belongs to. 2/5 Wow my face when I heard this song at first. Unlike the 3 songs we already talked about, this song is just different. The other songs has nice, melodic instruments, maybe here and there some house genre sounds, but this song is much harder, stronger and fast tempo. I was surprised at first because I didn’t expect this kind of song. It reminds me the other few songs which I love from Super Junior, such as, or even. A lot of electronic dance beats and full of energy.

I just imagine how the choreography for this song would be awesome. It’s like the flu wants you to topple over Strongly not allowing you to struggle You got hit You must spoil Hurry anchor Right, there is dubstep breakdown in this song as in Swing, but here it fits the song and not just randomly thrown in to make is sound cool. Also, my favorite part comes right after the dubstep part, the list of diseases.

No, no I’m joking but somehow serious at the same time haha. The part where someone from the members (help me here with the name?) shout: “Fever, Tears, Chest pain, Headache”, I find it really good for some reason. Also, while I was searching for the lyrics of the songs, I found out that the Chinese lyrics talk about some othe diseases and kinds of pain. In addition there is the part where they are talking nonstop about the bad boy, which I didn’t find the connection between the lyrics and the bad boy parts. Some kind of love story with bad boy and a girl that making him sick, like hurt sick not sick sick Well! Awesome song.

4/5 The song starts with the fastest walking human ever those steps are so quick! Anyways the first part of the song has really mystery-detective feeling to it, which follows the whole song towards the end. Then come the chorus, which is fine. I still kept your photos Constantly holding in my hands The reversal in my memory You and I were only friends But it always feels like we are closer than friends Like the rhythm in my heart Girl please stay by my side But a little seriously now. Except for the same feeling I mentioned before, I didn’t felt anything special from this song.

It’s just cool and nice song, really quiet vocals and melody, and that why I got the feeling of detective scene. Except for it, it’s kind of boring.

There nothing exciting or too boring in it. There isn’t any special color, and it seems like the song going in one straight line without going higher or lower. I can’t say a lot about it, because once again, I don’t have anything to say about it.

I didn’t enjoy the song much, nor hated it. I did expected for something badass or more exciting, because the name of the song fits that style, but it wasn’t the situation. Cool song, no more 3/5 This song, yes yes, this one, is my favorite song of the entire album! The song starts with the style I don’t love much so I had the feeling that it going to be another love cute ballad song, like “My Love For You”. Tamil tv serial actress pooja. Luckily the change from an average love song to amazing vocal ballad song came after few seconds. The only thing that kept me to listen those few seconds before the change is the clock sounds which I found very nice. Time spirals in the breath of memories When I slowly can’t feel you Laughing and weeping All become a soundless film After the first listening I was addicted to the song it’s so beautiful.tears.tears.

But seriously this song is so good. Those violins which lead the song for the entire time are beautiful as well, and adding to the general stunning appearance of the song.

I thought about it for some minutes, and the song really reminds me. Forever hustling to find what Once you get used to someone it’s like being emptied Who is begging for me I can’t turn back I know it’s time to let go Now. Why I’m repeating the fact it so good? Because I’m shocked.

This kind of songs, in the 1000 time, isn’t really my style. I love more Hip Hop, House, Electronic, Rap; Hard beat music, than ballads. I never liked ballads that much, and the only ballad I loved a lot before is that EXO song.

There something that makes this song into something that everyone can relate to it, without understanding the meaning it self. This is another good point. In this song, I didn’t even notice it is in Chinese. I’m more lost when I’m hearing Chinese or Japanese than the Korean that I used to.
